MICROCHIPPING
We now offer a microchipping service, not only to our boarding customers but to any members of the public who want
to have their pet microchipped to set their mind at rest. Dealing with strays and rescue animals we see first hand just how
important it is to have your pet microchipped and have therefore trained to do it ourselves. All of our own pets are chipped, as are all of the rescue dogs before they are rehomed. The prices charged by veterinarians are quite high and we do not feel that it is fair to charge such prices for something
which we see as being absolutely vital. Everyone should have the opportunity to have their pets microchipped. Therefore we only charge £12.00 per chip, (with discount given to owners
chipping more than one pet).
Your pet will then be registered with Petlog
which comes strongly recommended by the Kennel Club. This registration is for life and well worth it!
Please ring to pop in and have your pet chipped (it only takes ten minutes), or if you are local
we may be able to come to you.
Pets that we can chip are : Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets.
(It
is strongly recommended that you pet is over 8 weeks old.) Tel: 01759371988

FAQ'S
What exactly is a microchip?
The microchip is the tiny computer chip that contains the unique ID number
assigned to the transponder. The transponder is simply the tiny electronic device encapsulated in biocompatible glass used
to store the identification number. The size of the transponders which we use are roughly the size of an uncooked grain of
rice! Each unique ID number is encoded onto the microchip.
How does it work?
Very simply,
the microchip number can be picked up by running a scanner over the area where the microchip is and therefore tracing it back
to the pets owners via the Petlog database.
Is it dangerous?
No, this is a simple procedure whereby
the chip is implanted in the skin between the shoulder blades. Some animals do feel a slight twinge, others do not even bat
an eyelid! Again, some animals may bleed a little, some may not depending on the animal. (It may only be performed by a vet
or qualified microchipper.)

Did you know that in the busy areas of the UK, if a
dog is found with no ID and taken to the stray kennels they may only have seven days to be collected by their owner or a rescue
centre before being put to sleep because there is not enough space!

I have heard
that chips can move is there much point?
Yes! Some chips have been reported to migrate but not many. It is advisable
to have your pet scanned whenever they go the vet just to make sure though.
Who is able to scan for it?
All vets, most rescue centres and all the dog wardens will scan animals. For dogs the dog warden is most important. If a
dog is found straying it will be picked up by the local dog warden and scanned immediately. If the dog has a chip, the warden
will take down the number and ring the microchip company. The microchip company have all the owners details and will contact
them to let them know that their dog has been found. (It is important to make sure you keep your personal details updated).
